Improved gene analysis of kidney cancer defines kidney cancer subtypes

Professor Håkan Axelsson and his team have identified a series of gene expression programs that are characteristic for specific cell types of the nephron. This can be used to define the histological origin of kidney cancer which is significant for diagnostics and, in the long term, also for the choice of treatment.
